Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records AlumniCore – Alumni Management & Directory version 1.2.0 as active, updated 22d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Most WordPress sites end up managing alumni with a directory plugin here, a membership plugin there, and a theme demo nobody remembers installing. AlumniCore is different: one custom, indexed database built specifically for alumni records, one admin screen, one system of record.

Free includes:

  • Custom indexed alumni database (fast search and filtering, not a repurposed post type)
  • Self-registration form via shortcode, with an optional profile photo upload (JPG/PNG/WebP/GIF, 2 MB max)
  • Admin approval workflow — every new record starts as Pending
  • Searchable, filterable public directory via shortcode
  • Filtering by batch year and department, plus name and company search and sorting
  • Individual profile pages, with Email and LinkedIn buttons
  • Admin-configurable required fields — choose which fields alumni must fill in
  • CSV export of all records, with a field picker to choose exactly which columns to include
  • Control over whether the public Email button is shown on the directory and profiles
  • No record limit and no locked features

Shortcodes

  • [alumnicore_directory] — the public, searchable alumni directory, with an individual profile page for each alumnus built in
  • [alumnicore_register] — the self-registration form
  • [alumnicore_register_button] — a button linking to the page set as your Registration page (AlumniCore → Settings), or pass url=”https://…” directly to skip that setting
  • [alumnicore_login_button] — a login button, returns the visitor to the page they clicked it from
  • [alumnicore_auth_button] — one button that shows “Log In” or “Log Out” depending on whether the visitor is signed in
  • [alumnicore_forgot_password_button] — links to your site’s password reset page

Access control

AlumniCore → Settings lets you restrict the directory, individual profiles, and registration to logged-in WordPress users only, instead of the default of open to all visitors. This uses your site’s normal accounts and login page — there’s no separate alumni login system to manage.

AlumniCore Pro is a separate add-on sold by Poly Bright Labs. It does not unlock, restrict, or enable anything in this plugin — everything above is fully available with no limits. g.

enrollment number, field/industry) on the registration form, profiles, and exports, beyond this plugin’s built-in field set. com/alumnicore/

Personal data

AlumniCore stores the personal data alumni submit through the registration form (name, email, phone, batch year, department, company, designation, city, country, LinkedIn URL, and bio), and displays approved records in the public directory. The plugin integrates with WordPress’s core Export Personal Data and Erase Personal Data tools (Settings → Privacy) so data requests can be fulfilled without manual database work.

Who it’s for

Schools, colleges, universities, and institute alumni associations that want an alumni directory living inside their existing WordPress site — not a separate app, not five stitched-together plugins.

External services

This plugin does not send data to any service of its own. com, operated by Automattic). The image request contains a one-way hash of the email address, and the visitor’s browser makes the request, so Gravatar also sees that visitor’s IP address.

This is standard WordPress behaviour and can be switched off under Settings → Discussion → Avatars (“Show Avatars”); the directory then shows no avatar for people without an uploaded photo. com/privacy/
