About this plugin
AsadShah8 WebP Converter converts JPEG and PNG images to the modern WebP format using the image library WordPress already uses (GD or Imagick). No external services are involved and no data leaves your server.
Every conversion is verified before anything is deleted. The plugin only removes the original image files after the WebP file has been created, checked, attached to the same Media Library item, and its metadata and MIME type have been confirmed. If any step fails, the attachment is restored to its original state and your original files are left in place.

Bulk conversion of your existing Media Library, processed in small batches with a live progress bar.
Verified, safe conversion with automatic rollback on failure.
The Media Library item and its ID are preserved; thumbnails are regenerated as WebP.
Dashboard with library statistics: images in library, WebP images, pending, processing, converted, failed, and space saved.
Failed-conversion list with the error for each image, single Retry and Retry All.
Adjustable WebP quality (1–100).
Clean uninstall: all plugin settings and bookkeeping data are removed when the plugin is deleted.
Important
After a verified conversion the original JPEG/PNG files are permanently deleted. jpg URL) are not rewritten. Please back up your site before converting your existing library.
