About this plugin
Brand Voice Checker checks your posts and pages against your brand voice and against advertising-claims rules without leaving the WordPress editor. Open a post, click a check in the Brand Voice Checker box, and the result appears beside your content in seconds — no copying text into another tab.
Start here: set up your account first
com/) and does not work on its own. Before you install it:
- Complete the brand voice survey for your domain at https://brandvoice.thelostagency.com/brand-voice-survey.html. It builds the brand voice profile your content is scored against.
- Create your account and add credits. Each check costs one credit.
- Create a connection key for this site at https://brandvoice.thelostagency.com/connect-wordpress.php and paste it into Settings → Brand Voice Checker.
Without a brand voice profile and available credits, the plugin has nothing to check your content against.
Compliance check
Screens the post for claims, promises, guarantees and other regulated language against 16 advertising-claims rules — guarantees, superlatives and “number one” claims, health, green and carbon claims, price and “free” offers, comparisons, ingredients and more — checked for all markets at once. Your own approved-claims register and never-say list are applied too. You get a verdict, a 0–100 score and every flagged phrase with the rule it breaks and a suggested fix.
Severity is enforced by rule, not guessed, so the verdict can never contradict the flags.
Brand voice check
Scores the post 0–100 against your brand voice profile, with an A–E band, and quotes back off-brand phrases with a suggested rewrite for each. Scoring is arithmetic, not a model’s gut feel: the service measures where your content sits on ten calibrated language dimensions and compares that with your profile.
Publish gate
Set the gate to Off, Warn or Block. With Warn or Block, the editor is told — or stopped — when a post has not been checked, has changed since its last check, or failed it (a compliance hold, or a score below the minimum you set). The gate reads the result saved with the post, so publishing never calls the service and never costs a credit.
Administrators can always publish, so a site cannot lock itself out.
In your site audits (free)
If you audit your website with Brand Voice Generator, the box shows how a published page did in your latest site audit: claims found by rule, house-rule hits, any full check results, and a link to the full report.
Your key stays on your server
The editor talks only to this plugin’s own REST route, checked against the user’s edit permission. WordPress calls the service server-side, so the connection key is never sent to a browser. Shortcodes are removed, never run, before content is checked.

External services
This plugin connects to the Brand Voice Checker service, operated by The Lost Agency BV, to check content. Nothing is sent until you set a connection key in Settings → Brand Voice Checker.
What is sent, and when:
- When an editor clicks Check compliance or Check brand voice: the post’s text (shortcodes and HTML removed, at most 8,000 characters), your connection key, and for a brand voice check the brand domain you set in the settings.
- When an editor opens a published post: the post’s public address (permalink), your site’s domain and your connection key, to look the page up in your site audits. The result is cached for 10 minutes.
