Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records Cheyytec Content Warning Blur – Spoiler, NSFW & Trigger Warning Click to Reveal version 1.1.0 as active, updated 3mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.0.
Overview
About this plugin
Cheyytec Content Warning Blur hides spoilers, NSFW images and sensitive content behind a blurred overlay with a short warning and a “Show content” button. Nothing is revealed until the visitor chooses to click.
Wrap any text or image in one shortcode and it is blurred instantly — no configuration, no page builder, no external service.
What people use it for
Spoiler blur — hide plot twists, episode recaps, endings and game spoilers until the reader opts in.
NSFW blur — blur adult or suggestive images on art, fandom and community sites so nothing loads uncovered on screen.
Trigger warnings — put a content warning over descriptions of violence, self-harm, abuse or other distressing topics.
Graphic and medical images — blur wounds, surgery photos or clinical material behind a clear warning.
Surprise reveals — quiz answers, puzzle solutions, prize announcements and gift ideas.
Key features
Wrap anything — text, images, or other shortcodes — in a content warning.
Blur + click-to-reveal — content stays hidden until the visitor clicks the button.
Custom wording — set your own warning label and button text, per shortcode or site-wide (Settings → Content Warning).
Lightweight and dependency-free — a tiny script and stylesheet load only where the shortcode is used.
Works with the block editor, classic editor and most page builders.
How to use
Wrap the content you want to hide inside the [cheyytec_content_warning] shortcode:
[/cheyytec_content_warning]
Customise the wording with attributes:
[/cheyytec_content_warning]
You can also place an image or gallery inside the shortcode — it will be blurred until revealed.
Pro version
Content Warning Blur Pro adds:
18+ age gate — require an age confirmation before revealing, with an age="18" attribute and your own confirmation text.
Remembered consent — once a visitor confirms their age, age-gated content stays revealed for a number of days you choose (cookie).
Automatic category warnings — blur every post in selected categories automatically, no shortcode needed.
Reveal analytics — see which pages get their warnings revealed the most.
