Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Bitcoin payment for WooCommerce version 1.7.1 as active, updated 4h ago and tested up to WordPress 6.9.

Overview

About this plugin

Accept Bitcoin and Lightning payments in WooCommerce

Coinsnap for WooCommerce is an open-source Bitcoin payment plugin that adds Bitcoin payments directly to the native WooCommerce checkout.

Customers can pay with Bitcoin via Lightning or on-chain while merchants keep their existing WooCommerce order, checkout, tax, shipping, coupon and fulfillment workflows.

When using Coinsnap, merchants do not need to operate their own Bitcoin or Lightning payment infrastructure. Coinsnap follows a non-custodial / self-custody model and does not hold merchant Bitcoin.

How it works

  • Create a Coinsnap merchant account.
  • Install and activate the Coinsnap for WooCommerce plugin.
  • Open the Coinsnap settings in WooCommerce.
  • Select Coinsnap or BTCPay Server as your payment provider.
  • Connect the selected provider.
  • Enable Bitcoin as a payment method in WooCommerce.
  • Optionally configure a Bitcoin discount and customize the checkout.
  • Customers select Bitcoin at checkout and pay by scanning the displayed QR code.
  • The WooCommerce order status is updated automatically after payment.

Coinsnap or BTCPay Server

The plugin supports two payment-provider modes:

  • Coinsnap – for merchants who want to accept Bitcoin without running their own payment infrastructure.
  • BTCPay Server – for merchants who operate their own BTCPay Server and want to connect it to WooCommerce through the same plugin.

Bitcoin discount

Merchants can configure a fixed or percentage-based discount that applies when customers choose Bitcoin as their payment method.

This can be used to encourage Bitcoin payments directly at checkout.

Fees

Coinsnap charges a 1% transaction fee. The fee is charged separately against the merchant’s Coinsnap credit because Coinsnap does not deduct fees from the Bitcoin payment itself.

Settlement

Bitcoin payments can be settled to a compatible Bitcoin or Lightning wallet.

One option is the Coinsnap Wallet, which combines a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet with merchant and point-of-sale functionality.

Depending on the merchant setup and supported partner integrations, Bitcoin payments can also be converted and settled to a bank account.
