Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Content Unpublisher version 1.4 as active, updated 7d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Content Unpublisher lets you schedule a date and time for posts, pages or custom post types to automatically:

– Be moved to the Trash, or

– Be converted back to a draft

Perfect for time-sensitive content such as promotions, events, job listings, announcements, or temporary landing pages.

Features:

– Set a future unpublish date and action per post, page or custom post type

– Native block editor support: an “Unpublish” row in the Summary panel, right below the publish date

– Classic Editor support: an Unpublish Settings box below the Publish box

– Choose which post types get the unpublish options (Content Unpublisher > Settings)

– Choose to trash or unpublish to draft

– Quick presets (in 1 week, in 30 days, end of month) and a clear warning when a date is in the past

– See schedules in the Posts list (“To draft on Dec. 24, 2026”), with a sortable column and Quick Edit / Bulk Edit support

– Admin overview of all scheduled actions: filter by action or post type, sort, and remove one or many at once (with Undo)

– History of executed actions, and a note on the post itself explaining why it is no longer published

– Lightweight and clean – no custom database tables

How to use it:

  • Open a post, page or enabled custom post type.
  • Block editor: in the Summary panel, click the value next to “Unpublish” (it says “Never” until you set a date). Classic Editor: use the Unpublish Settings box in the sidebar.
  • Pick a date and time, or click a preset: In 1 week, In 30 days or End of month.
  • Under “Then change status to”, choose Draft (hidden, easy to republish) or Trash.
  • Save or update the post. The date shows up in the Posts list and on the Content Unpublisher overview.

To schedule many items at once, select them in the Posts list, choose Bulk actions > Edit, set Unpublish to “Schedule…” and pick a date and action. To change or remove a single schedule, use Quick Edit, the editor, or the overview page.
