Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records CraftPost Preferred Sources version 1.0.1 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

CraftPost Preferred Sources helps publishers invite readers to add their website as a preferred source in Google Search.

The plugin provides:

  • A responsive light or dark call-to-action card.
  • Automatic placement before or after content, after the first paragraph, H1, or H2, or before a detected theme footer.
  • The [craftpost_preferred_sources] shortcode for blocks, page builders, and templates.
  • A configurable source domain, heading, description, and button label.
  • Locally stored aggregate click statistics with an option to disable collection.
  • Click statistics displayed directly on the plugin settings page.

Automatic placements are disabled by default. Local aggregate click statistics are enabled by default for new installations and can be disabled in settings. The plugin does not load remote scripts, styles, fonts, or images.

CraftPost Preferred Sources is an independent plugin and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.

External service

com/preferences/source.

No request is made to Google merely by displaying the call to action. Google receives the configured source domain in the destination URL and the visitor’s normal web request data only after the visitor clicks the button and leaves the website.

Google provides and controls the Preferred Sources feature, including website eligibility and availability. Review Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Terms of Service.

Privacy

Local click statistics are enabled by default for new installations. While collection is enabled, the plugin stores aggregate click totals by date, device category, and source page in the local WordPress database. It does not store IP addresses, cookies, or visitor identifiers, and it does not send statistics to CraftPost or any other analytics service.

WordPress administrators can add the plugin’s suggested disclosure from the Privacy Policy Guide. Deleting the plugin removes its settings and locally stored statistics.
