Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records DCLVBS Snowflakes version 0.0.2 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

DCLVBS Snowflakes adds a decorative animated snowfall effect to the public-facing WordPress website.

Snowflakes are generated dynamically in the browser and fall across the visible page.

Website elements can optionally be marked as snow surfaces. Snowflakes can then visually accumulate on those elements.

To enable snow accumulation on an element, add the following CSS class:

dclvbs-snow-surface

The plugin does not modify post content, media files, theme files, or database content.

The effect is displayed only on the public-facing website.

Visitors who have enabled reduced-motion preferences in their operating system or browser will not receive the animated snow effect.

Features

  • Decorative falling snowflake animation
  • 35 continuously generated snowflakes
  • Random snowflake size
  • Random horizontal positioning
  • Random opacity
  • Random falling duration
  • Optional snow accumulation on selected frontend elements
  • Maximum accumulation limit per snow surface for improved performance
  • Frontend-only functionality
  • No modification of WordPress content or media files
  • No plugin-specific snowfall settings stored in the database
  • Snowfall functionality runs locally in the visitor’s browser
  • Support for reduced-motion accessibility preferences
  • WordPress-compliant frontend script and style loading

Snow surfaces

Snowflakes can optionally accumulate on selected elements.

To make an element a snow surface, add the CSS class:

dclvbs-snow-surface

For example:

<div class="dclvbs-snow-surface">Your content</div>

The plugin checks visible snow surfaces while snowflakes are falling.

When a suitable visible surface is detected, decorative snowflakes may be placed near the top edge of that element.

The accumulated snowflakes are visual elements only and do not modify the underlying content.

Snow accumulation limit

To help limit the number of generated frontend elements, each snow surface keeps a maximum of approximately 60 accumulated snowflakes.

When the limit is exceeded, the oldest accumulated snowflake is removed.

Accessibility

DCLVBS Snowflakes respects the CSS and browser preference:

prefers-reduced-motion: reduce

When a visitor has reduced motion enabled, the animated snowfall effect is disabled.

This helps avoid unnecessary animation for visitors who prefer reduced motion.

Privacy

The snowflake animation itself is generated locally in the visitor’s browser.

DCLVBS Snowflakes does not intentionally upload website content or snow surface information to an external service as part of the snowfall functionality.

The plugin uses the Freemius SDK for account-related functionality, plugin usage information, licensing infrastructure, and related service functionality.

When the website administrator opts in to Freemius services or uses functionality that requires communication with Freemius, information about the website, plugin installation, WordPress environment, and administrator account may be transmitted to Freemius.

The snowfall effect itself does not require visitor data to be transmitted to Freemius in order to function.
