Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records DigiNex Media Optimizer version 1.1.0 as active, updated 1h ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

DigiNex Media Optimizer makes your media library smaller without making your images look worse. Everything runs on your own server: no account, no API key, no image is sent anywhere.

What it does

  • Every new JPEG or PNG upload is converted to WebP at quality 82, which looks the same as the original.
  • Every image size (thumbnail, medium, large…) is rebuilt from the best file on disk, at the same pixel size, so your layouts do not change.
  • PNG graphics and logos are kept pixel-exact (lossless WebP); PNG photos are compressed, keeping transparency.
  • The old JPEG/PNG files are deleted, but only after the new WebP has been written and checked, and the database has been updated.
  • Links to the old files are updated in posts, pages, excerpts, Elementor and other JSON data, widgets and theme settings.
  • Anyone who still asks for an old.jpg or.png URL (a cached page, an old link) is redirected to the WebP with a 301.
  • Existing images can be converted one by one from the Media Library (list view, “WebP” column).

Safety

  • Nothing is deleted until the new file is verified.
  • Images whose WebP would not be at least 10% smaller are left as they are.
  • Files kept by the WordPress image editor for “Restore original image” are never touched.
  • Wide-gamut photos (for example from iPhones) are skipped on servers with GD only, so their colours are not lost. Imagick keeps the colour profile.

DigiNex Media Optimizer Pro

The Pro add-on converts the whole existing library in one go, in the background, with a savings estimate and progress. It also deletes the huge original uploads WordPress keeps next to the “-scaled” copies, adds quality, maximum size and PNG settings, and a WP-CLI command.
