Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records Featured Post Manager version 1.0 as active, updated 16y ago and tested up to WordPress 3.0.
Overview
About this plugin
Let’s you select a specific category for featured posts, and manage those selections on the WordPress dashboard.
Most WordPress themes have you manage featured posts by selecting a “Featured” or “Top News” category for your special articles. This method has worked pretty well for both me and others. It’s only downfall is that you must go to edit that post in order to “feature” or “unfeature” it.
Well I’m putting an end to that. With this plugin, you can select which posts get featured right on the dashboard.
To put it simply: You can manage categories from the WordPress Dashboard.

“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
