Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records fnlowl version 1.0.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

FnlOwl turns a blog post into an email list. One widget captures the lead, delivers your lead magnet and starts your follow-up emails, so you do not need a separate popup plugin and email service wired together.

A short overview of the plugin (under two minutes):

This plugin connects your WordPress site to your FnlOwl account. It adds:

  • an FnlOwl Widget block and an [fnlowl id="wg_..."] shortcode, to place a widget inside a post or page
  • a Settings > FnlOwl page, where you enter your site key once
  • consent-first loading: nothing from FnlOwl loads until your own consent manager says the visitor has agreed

FnlOwl supports six kinds of widget: lead magnet, popup, survey, announcement bar, quiz and calculator. You build them in your FnlOwl account.

What happens when a visitor submits a widget: the lead is saved to your FnlOwl account, the lead magnet email is delivered with an unsubscribe link, and your follow-up sequence starts.

This plugin requires a FnlOwl account. The plugin is free. The FnlOwl service has a 7-day free trial, then paid plans: $9 a month for up to 500 leads a month, $27 for up to 2,500 and $81 for up to 7,500.

Every plan includes all six widget kinds and the follow-up automation; the plans differ in monthly limits (leads, websites, widgets and emails), and the “Powered by FnlOwl” badge is removed on the $27 and $81 plans. See pricing.

The plugin does not load FnlOwl until your site’s consent manager signals that the visitor has accepted the category you choose. This keeps the choice of consent category and policy with the site owner.

External services

This plugin requires the FnlOwl service to display and process widgets. It makes no connection until the site’s consent mechanism grants permission.

js. com to obtain the configured widget and record a widget view. These requests include the site key, widget identifier, standard browser request metadata such as IP address and referring origin, and the browser’s normal request headers.

When a visitor submits a widget, the embed sends the data entered into that widget, such as an email address and quiz or survey answers, plus the referrer. FnlOwl uses this data to display the widget, count views, capture leads, deliver the requested lead magnet, and run the account owner’s configured follow-up or integrations.

After consent, the embed stores a per-widget cooldown timestamp in the visitor’s browser local storage so dismissed or completed widgets are not repeatedly shown. It does not store form answers there.

FnlOwl’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy apply to this service.
