Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Fotalyze version 0.3.1 as active, updated 2mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Personalized-product shops receive unusable photos: blurry, backlit, too

small to print. The problem is discovered after the order, and costs an email

exchange, a refund, or an unhappy customer.

Fotalyze scores the photo the moment the customer picks it, and tells them

clearly what’s wrong — before they pay.

The photo never leaves the customer’s device

All the analysis happens in the browser. No image is ever sent to a server,

neither yours nor the plugin’s. There is no third-party service, no account to

create, no outgoing request, no personal data transmitted.

Warns, never blocks

By default, the plugin warns the customer and lets them order anyway. This is

deliberate: no automated tool judges a photo as well as a human does, and

rejecting a good photo costs a sale.

Blocking the add-to-cart button exists as a Pro feature, so it’s a deliberate

choice you make once the thresholds have been proven on your own orders — not

something a fresh install can do by accident.

What is measured

  • Sharpness — Laplacian variance, to catch motion blur or missed focus.
  • Exposure — overexposed or overly dark areas, where detail is permanently lost.
  • Backlight — a subject noticeably darker than its background. Warns only.
  • Resolution — actual image size compared to what your print format requires.
  • Screenshot detection — recognises files that aren’t photographs at all.

Shop-wide thresholds are adjustable from WooCommerce → Fotalyze.

The score stays attached to the order

The verdict the customer saw is recorded on the order line — for free, on

every order. So if a dispute comes up, you know the customer was warned and

ordered anyway.

Free vs. Pro

Free forever:

  • Photo scoring with every metric above.
  • Customer-facing warning — never blocks the order.
  • Shop-wide thresholds.
  • The score attached to every order line.

Fotalyze Pro adds:

  • Optional blocking of the add-to-cart button, once you trust your thresholds.
  • Per-product thresholds — a large-format print can demand a higher

resolution than a small one, without changing the shop-wide default.

  • A history screen listing every order with a photo score, instead of opening

orders one by one.
