Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records Google News Keywords from Tags version 1.0 as active, updated 12y ago and tested up to WordPress 3.5.
Overview
About this plugin
In September 2012, Google announced “news_keywords” meta tag which is intended to help Google News to properly classify content and make it more discoverable for users.
This plugin picks your posts’ tags and uses them to generate “news_keywords” meta tag. No need to set up anything, it’s all done automatically. If a post has no tags Google News Keywords meta tag will not be displayed.
You can use up to ten Google News keywords, so don’t go too tag happy.

“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
