Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records JT Media Folders version 1.2.0 as active, updated 9d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

AI Agents & REST API

Scripts and AI agents (for example through an MCP connector) can organize folders without the Media Library screen. Users authenticate with application passwords and only get the access they already have: the upload_files capability, and editing rights on each attachment they file.

9 and newer, these Abilities are registered in the “Media Folders” category: list-folders, list-media, get-media-folders, ensure-folders, update-folder, delete-folder, assign-media, remove-media and set-media-folders (each prefixed jt-media-folders/ ).

REST routes under /wp-json/jt-media-folders/v1:

  • GET /folders, POST /folders, POST /folders/ensure
  • GET, PATCH, DELETE /folders/{id}
  • GET /media (filter by folder ID, unassigned or all, plus search, mime_type, page, per_page )
  • GET /media/folders?ids=1,2,3
  • POST /media/assign, POST /media/remove, POST /media/set

Bulk calls accept up to 500 items. To turn this off, go to Media > Folder Settings > AI & API Access, or use the jt_media_folders_enable_api filter.
