Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records LDAP Staff Directory version 1.4.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.
Overview
About this plugin
LDAP Staff Directory lets you connect your WordPress site to an LDAP / LDAPS server and publish a public employee directory with zero manual data entry.
Features
Connects to any LDAP or LDAPS server (including Active Directory, OpenLDAP, Samba), with the scheme chosen from a dedicated selector
Configurable Base OU and Bind DN
Extracts: full name, email, job title, department, phone, and telephone extension (PBX / IP-PBX systems)
Shortcode [ldap_directory] usable in any post, page or widget
Native Elementor widget with full style controls
Native Beaver Builder module with General and Style tabs
Public directory browses department-first: a menu of departments (with employee counts) leads to each department’s contact list, in configurable order (alphabetical or by contact count)
Employee cards within a department can be ordered by name or job title, ascending or descending, from the admin — no code changes needed
Exclude specific departments — or employees with no department assigned — from the public directory, enforced at the LDAP query level so those employees are never fetched
Exclude disabled Active Directory accounts
Server-side search and pagination, with configurable items per page
Handles directories with 1,000+ users via RFC 2696 paged LDAP results
Transient-based cache with configurable TTL, one-click invalidation, and a resilient stale fallback when LDAP is temporarily unreachable
Guided settings screen under Settings → LDAP Directory, split into Connection / Employees / Fields tabs with plain-language help popovers, a collapsible “Advanced settings” section per tab, and a one-click “Copy request for IT” template for gathering connection details from whoever manages your LDAP server — built for administrators without LDAP experience
Bind password encrypted at rest, with a show/hide toggle while editing
