Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Martto Friendly Reactions version 1.3.0 as active, updated 4d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Martto Friendly Reactions gives visitors a simple way to react to your content with a lightweight clap button.

The button can be shown automatically on posts, pages, and public custom post types. It can also be placed anywhere in the content with a shortcode. Multiple buttons in the same post stay synchronized, so every button represents the same clap count and daily visitor state.

Features include:

  • Configurable daily clap limit from 1 to 50 claps per visitor and post.
  • Daily clap state resets at the end of the WordPress site’s local day.
  • Five icon choices: Classic Clap, Classic Heart, Classic Like, Circle Heart, and Circle Like.
  • Two circular SVG icons with five preset colours (red, blue, black, green, orange) and custom hex colour support.
  • A click animation with a colour-matched expanding ring for the circular icons.
  • Visual icon selection with colour controls shown alongside the selected circular icon.
  • Left, center, or right alignment.
  • Optional custom button text and clap count display, with a choice to show or hide the count when it is zero.
  • A small optional celebration effect when the daily clap limit is reached.
  • A fixed “Friendly” hover label for the clap button on pointer devices.
  • Global display controls for posts, pages, and public custom post types.
  • A per-content “Do not display the clap button” option in the editor.
  • [marttofr_reactions] shortcode support for placing synchronized buttons anywhere in the same post.
  • Optional visitor messages after a successful clap.
  • Custom message-button text and optional message-form introduction text.
  • One message per post per visitor per site day.
  • Optional message notification email through the WordPress mail system.
  • Clap Log with date filtering, message-only filtering, grouped deletion, and links to public posts.
  • Statistics with hourly, daily, monthly, and yearly views.
  • Top 10 clapped posts with competition-style ranking.
  • Current WordPress site timezone shown on the Statistics screen.
  • A widget for recently clapped published posts with optional 50×50 featured images and clap date/time.
  • Translation-ready English source strings for WordPress.org language packs.

The plugin stores clap and message records in its own WordPress database tables. A random anonymous visitor key is stored in a first-party HttpOnly cookie with SameSite=Lax and expires at the next site-local midnight. The cookie is used to enforce daily clap and message limits.

For clap and message records, the plugin also stores the visitor IP address. Site owners should account for this data in their privacy policy and retention practices as required by applicable law. Records for a post are removed when that post is permanently deleted.

The plugin adds suggested text to the WordPress Privacy Policy Guide. Martto Friendly Reactions does not ask visitors for an email address, so its anonymous clap/message records cannot be reliably matched to WordPress personal-data export or erasure requests that are keyed by email address.

Deactivation keeps the plugin data. Uninstalling and deleting the plugin removes its settings and plugin-owned database tables.

Shortcode

Place the clap button at any position in post content:

[marttofr_reactions]

You may place the shortcode more than once in the same post. All clap buttons for the same post share the same clap count, daily visitor limit, message state, and maximum-limit state. The automatic button at the end of the post remains visible unless the post-level hide option is enabled.
