Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records OST Read Aloud version 1.0.0 as active, updated 21d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.
Overview
About this plugin
OST Read Aloud adds a “Listen to this article” player to your posts. The audio is made once with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and saved in your media uploads folder, so visitors never call Google and you are only charged when you generate audio.
While the audio plays, the word being read is highlighted, along with its paragraph, and the page scrolls gently to follow along.
Everything is set up from Settings → Text to Speech. No code changes are needed.
