Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Portal Entry Guard version 1.0.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

When a visitor opens a protected page:

  • The plugin checks whether the page is protected.
  • If the visitor does not have a valid access token, the email gate is displayed.
  • The visitor enters their email address.
  • The email address is validated.
  • A secure access token is generated.
  • The token is stored securely and associated with the protected page.
  • The visitor receives access to the protected page.
  • Access remains available until the configured expiration period.

Security

Portal Entry Guard uses:

  • WordPress nonces for form validation.
  • Sanitized email input.
  • Secure random token generation.
  • SHA-256 token hashes in the database.
  • HTTP-only cookies.
  • SameSite cookie protection.
  • Expiration timestamps for access tokens.
