Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Restrict Content Pro – Taxamo Integration version 1.0.0 as active, updated 11y ago and tested up to WordPress 4.1.

Overview

About this plugin

This adds Taxamo VAT Tax integration to your existing Restrict Content Pro site.

Includes full support for all future subscriptions using Paypal. Stripe Integration is available but requires modifying RCP or waiting for the next update.

What It Does

  • Updates prices automatically during checkout to show taxes if they choose a country that VAT applies to.
  • Stores a unique Taxamo transaction for each subscription that includes all required VAT information.
  • Recurring future payments will be added to that same transaction.

Important Notes

  • Paypal Standard does not allow a fluctuating tax. The subscription price is set to include the tax rate at time of subscription and the rate may change in the future. In this case any additional tax will come from the price of the subscription. EX. $10 Subscription at 20% tax is $12/cycle. If the rate goes to 22% then tax will be $2.20, thus $0.20 additional of the $10 would be considered tax.
  • Stripe allows monthly adjustment to the tax and this will be calculated every month.
  • Currently setup fees are not taxed. This will be resolved shortly.

Setup Guide

  • If you haven’t already sign up for Taxamo.
  • If your taxamo email doesn’t match your sites domain then you need to do this.
  • In your Taxamo Dashboard, Navigate to Integrate -> JavaScript API
  • Add your sites domain to the Currently configured additional domains under WEB API Referers.
  • In your Taxamo Dashboard, Navigate to Integrate -> API Tokens
  • Once signed in navigate to Integrate -> API Tokens
  • If you are testing, you need the Test access tokens.
  • If not, provide your business details and activate your account, then copy the production access tokens.
  • In your RCP Sites Admin Dashboard, Nagivate to Restrict -> Settings.
  • Enter both your Public and Private token. Enter test tokens to test, production for live sites.
  • Choose whether tax is included or added for new purchases.

Currently VAT Tax will only apply to new subscribers. We are trying to determine the best way to implement this for existing subscriptions but this requires determining there billing location and verifying it. This may require users to at a minimum update their profiles with their billing country.

Options for this include forcing tax included for all paypal payments. Stripe allows adding tax to any new invoice so it won’t be an issue. Paypal will likely require users to modify their subscription in order to add tax.

“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
