Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records Recent Posts with Excerpts version 2.6.1 as active, updated 10y ago and tested up to WordPress 4.8.
Overview
About this plugin
A widget that lists your most recent posts with excerpts, optionally limited to a category. The number of posts and excerpts is configurable; for example, you could show the titles of five posts but include the excerpt for only the two most recent. Supports the_excerpt Reloaded and Advanced Excerpt for excerpts with HTML formatting.
New! Supports displaying post thumbnails along with excerpts. Widget options let you place the thumbnails above the title, in between the title and the excerpt, or below the excerpt.
