Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records ShowcaseFeed Listings Grid & Carousel for eBay version 1.0.1 as active, updated 2mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.0.

Overview

About this plugin

ShowcaseFeed displays your active eBay listings on your WordPress site as real HTML, rendered on your server. Not an embedded widget, not an iframe, not a script that injects items after the page loads.

That difference is the whole point:

  • Search engines see your items. Your listings are in the page source, with schema.org Product data attached. Widgets that inject listings with JavaScript are largely invisible to crawlers.
  • Ad blockers cannot hide them. Your visitor’s browser never makes a third-party request, because your server fetches the listings. There is nothing for a blocker to block.
  • It looks like your site, not like a widget. The block inherits your theme’s colours, fonts, spacing and border settings. Every visual detail is a CSS custom property you can override.
  • It keeps working when things break. Listings are cached and served instantly. If eBay or our service has a bad day, your visitors keep seeing your items, then a plain link to your eBay page — never a broken box.

Layouts

  • Grid — responsive columns, adapts to the space it is placed in (not just the screen width), so it works in a sidebar as well as full width
  • List — compact rows with larger titles
  • Carousel — horizontal scroll with snap points, no JavaScript library

Features

  • Gutenberg block with a live preview while you edit
  • Shortcode for classic themes: [showcasefeed seller="your-username"]
  • Instant search, category filter and sorting — no page reloads
  • Crawlable pagination: page 2 is a real URL that search engines can index
  • Auction support: live countdown, bid counts
  • Free-shipping badges, condition, and prices in the listing’s own currency
  • schema.org ItemList and Product structured data
  • Works on 10 eBay marketplaces (US, UK, DE, AU, CA, FR, IT, ES, IE, NL)
  • Lazy-loaded, responsive images
  • Respects prefers-reduced-motion

External services

This plugin relies on two external services. It cannot function without them, because eBay’s API requires authenticated server-to-server access that a WordPress plugin cannot safely hold on its own.

1. net/v1/health), operated by BAMBAM LLC.

Your site calls this service to retrieve your listings. It is contacted whenever a cached feed is missing or stale — at most a few times an hour, from your server, never from a visitor’s browser.

  • What is sent: a random installation ID, a one-way verification key, your site URL, the eBay seller username and eBay marketplace you configure. Requests use a signed, short-lived capability bound to that exact site, seller and marketplace.
  • What comes back: your public eBay listings — the same information anyone can see on your eBay page.
  • What is not sent: nothing about your visitors. No personal data, no analytics, no tracking.
  • What is stored: the installation ID, verification key, site URL, configured seller and marketplace, short-lived anti-replay nonces and quota counters, plus cached public listing data for up to 24 hours. The root installation secret remains on your WordPress site and is never sent.
  • Why it is stored: installation records stop the public service being used as an unauthenticated eBay scraping proxy. Per-installation, per-seller and global safety limits protect the shared eBay API allowance. Cached or stale listings continue to be served when that allowance is exhausted.

The ShowcaseFeed API retrieves your listings from eBay’s official Browse API on your behalf. Your site does not contact eBay directly, but the listing data originates there and is subject to eBay’s terms.

Nothing is tracked about your visitors by this plugin; the parameters are read by eBay after the click.
