Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →
WP PlugIndex currently records Siteward Child version 0.8.1 as active, updated 13d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.
Overview
About this plugin
Siteward Child is the companion plugin for Siteward, a free, self-hosted dashboard for managing many WordPress sites from one place. Install this plugin on any WordPress site you want to manage centrally, then connect it to your dashboard with a one-time secure handshake.
Once connected, it exposes a single signed REST endpoint that your dashboard uses to read update status, UpdraftPlus backup history and site health, apply updates, and manage plugins. The dashboard always initiates the traffic, and this plugin never contacts any other server. After an update it loads this site’s own homepage to check the site still works.
Signed, replay-protected REST endpoint (verified against your dashboard’s public key).
Reports core, plugin and theme updates.
Reports UpdraftPlus backup history and status.
Reports basic site health (WP-Cron, load).
Safe updates: keeps the previous version of each plugin or theme your dashboard updates for 7 days, and puts it back automatically if the update breaks the site. You can also roll back yourself under Settings, Siteward Connection, Rollback.
Applies updates and, for fleet plugin management, activates, deactivates or uninstalls plugins, but only when instructed by your signed, paired dashboard.
This plugin does nothing on its own until paired with a Siteward dashboard.

“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
