Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Smooth CDN Connector version 1.5.8 as active, updated 1d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

Smooth CDN Connector lets you sync, optimize, offload, and deliver WordPress Media Library assets through Smooth Bundle CDN without changing how editors use WordPress.

Keep working with the standard Media Library while selected images, downloads, generated image sizes, and supported site assets are synced to Smooth Bundle and served through CDN URLs.

Use it to reduce local media storage, improve asset delivery, manage protected files, restore offloaded assets when needed, and keep better control over media used across your WordPress site.

The plugin is focused on real WordPress files and assets: uploads, generated image sizes, selected Media Library files, and supported JS/CSS assets from active themes and plugins.

For REST API acceleration, use Smooth API Accelerator instead.

Useful for

  • WordPress sites with large or growing Media Libraries
  • Agencies managing media-heavy client websites
  • Sites that want to offload selected media from local hosting
  • Projects that need CDN delivery without changing the existing WordPress workflow
  • Sites that need protected delivery for selected files

Features

  • CDN delivery for selected WordPress media and site assets
  • Media offload with restore support
  • Automatic URL rewriting for synced media and supported site assets
  • Support for uploaded media files and generated image sizes
  • Manual and scheduled sync
  • Automatic re-sync when attachments change
  • Protected asset delivery with access management
  • Unused assets view based on synced assets cross-checked against Smooth Bundle usage logs
  • Support for selected JS/CSS assets from active themes and plugins
  • Media Library based asset management directly in wp-admin
  • Controlled rollout, so assets can stay disabled, sync only, use rewritten URLs, or be offloaded

External services

This plugin connects to Smooth Bundle to authenticate the site, upload and delete synced media assets, manage protected asset access, fetch account and usage information, and optionally restore offloaded files from Smooth Bundle URLs.

When you connect the plugin, it sends your site domain to Smooth Bundle so the service can authenticate and prepare the connection.

When you sync media, it sends selected files and related asset metadata such as filenames, paths, hashes, protection settings, and project identifiers to Smooth Bundle so the assets can be uploaded, updated, delivered, and managed.

When you revoke, grant, or inspect protected asset access, it sends the relevant project identifiers, access identifiers, recipient email address, selected asset paths, and optional expiration date to Smooth Bundle to manage protected delivery.

When local offload restore is used, the plugin downloads the previously synced asset file from its Smooth Bundle delivery URL back to your WordPress uploads directory.
