Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records VVertex Icon Manager version 1.0.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.1.

Overview

About this plugin

1 Icon Registration API.

1 introduced a native API for registering icon collections and individual icons. VVertex Icon Manager provides a visual WordPress admin interface for that workflow.

Instead of writing custom PHP code, administrators can create their own named icon collections, upload or paste SVG icons, bulk import icons, manage individual icons and collections, and register enabled icons with WordPress.

VVertex Icon Manager is focused on native WordPress icon collection management. It does not enable unrestricted SVG uploads in the WordPress Media Library.

Features

  • Create and manage custom icon collections.
  • Organize icons into separate named collections.
  • Register collections using the native wp_register_icon_collection() API.
  • Register individual icons using the native wp_register_icon() API.
  • Upload individual SVG icons through the plugin admin interface.
  • Paste SVG markup directly.
  • Bulk import up to 50 SVG files at a time.
  • Preview custom icons from the WordPress dashboard.
  • Enable or disable individual icons.
  • Enable or disable entire icon collections.
  • Use VVertex-prefixed collection slugs to reduce namespace conflicts.
  • Make enabled collections available to the native WordPress Icon Library.
  • Copy ready-to-use Icon block markup.
  • Use icons in classic content and widgets with the [vvertex_icon] shortcode.
  • Use registered icons programmatically with WordPress core’s wp_get_icon() function.
  • Keep all icon management and storage on your own WordPress installation.

Native WordPress Icon API

1 Icon Registration API.

The plugin does not create a separate proprietary icon system.

For example, you can create a collection called:

Brand Icons

The plugin can register that collection using a namespace such as:

vvertex-brand-icons

An icon called:

shopping-cart

can then use a WordPress icon handle such as:

vvertex-brand-icons/shopping-cart

This allows custom icons and collections to work with the native WordPress icon infrastructure.

SVG handling

VVertex Icon Manager does not globally enable SVG uploads in the WordPress Media Library.

SVG files are handled only through the plugin’s administration screens for the purpose of creating icons for the WordPress Icon Registration API.

SVG markup is sanitized before storage and checked for compatibility with the SVG structure supported by WordPress.

SVG compatibility

1 uses a conservative SVG allowlist for registered icons.

The native Icon Registration API currently supports a limited SVG structure, including elements such as:

  • svg
  • path
  • polygon

Unsupported SVG elements and attributes may be removed during sanitization.

For best results, convert stroke-based icons and unsupported SVG shapes to filled paths or polygons before importing them.

VVertex Icon Manager provides compatibility information to help identify SVG files that may not work correctly with the native WordPress Icon API.

Security

VVertex Icon Manager follows WordPress security practices for its administration functionality.

The plugin uses:

  • WordPress capability checks.
  • Nonce verification for protected actions.
  • Input sanitization.
  • Output escaping.
  • SVG sanitization before storage.
  • WordPress APIs for storing and managing plugin data.

The plugin does not globally enable unrestricted SVG uploads.

Privacy

VVertex Icon Manager works locally on your WordPress installation.

The plugin does not:

  • Send icon data to the plugin author.
  • Send site content to external services.
  • Send personal information to external services.
  • Include tracking.
  • Include analytics.
  • Include telemetry.
  • Include advertising.
  • Load remote executable code.
  • Require an external API for its core functionality.

All icon and collection management takes place on your own WordPress site.
