Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Product Batch & Expiry Tracking for WooCommerce version 1.0.0 as active, updated 1mo ago and tested up to WordPress 7.0.

Overview

About this plugin

Track your WooCommerce products by batch number and expiry date — right from the product edit page.

Webis Batch & Expiration Tracking for WooCommerce gives store owners a simple, built-in way to split product inventory into batches, assign expiry dates, and monitor what’s expiring soon — without leaving your existing workflow.

Who Is This For?

Store owners selling perishable or regulated goods — food, cosmetics, supplements, beverages, medicine — who need to track inventory by batch or expiry date before committing to a paid solution.

Free Features

  • Batch & Expiry Tracking — Add batch entries directly on the product edit page (Inventory tab). Each entry stores batch number, batch date, quantity, and supplier.
  • Variable Product Support — Track batches independently per variation.
  • Expiry Report Dashboard — See all products with upcoming expiry dates, color-coded by urgency.
  • Batch Report Dashboard — Browse all batch records sorted by batch date.
  • Order Batch Search — Search WooCommerce orders by batch number, including HPOS support.
  • Expiry Date Display — Optionally show the expiry date on the product page for customers, with configurable date format and lead time.

How to Set It Up

  • Install and activate the plugin.
  • Go to any product edit page → Inventory tab → enable “Enable Expiry & Batch Tracking”.
  • Fill in the batch table with your batch entries.
  • Use the Batch & Expiration Dashboard (under Products menu) to monitor stock.

Use Case Example

You have 100 bags of coffee: 40 units expire in 30 days, the other 60 expire next year. Enter two batch entries with different quantities and expiry dates. The Expiry Report immediately flags the 40 at-risk units so you can plan promotions in time.

Why We Built This

We needed a straightforward way to track perishable inventory in our own WooCommerce store. Existing plugins were either too complex, incomplete, or no longer maintained. So we built our own — and made it available to the community.

Upgrade to Pro

The free version covers core batch and expiry tracking. Upgrade to Pro to unlock:

  • FIFO & nearest-expiry stock reduction
  • Auto-move expiring products to a Clearance category
  • Email alerts when products are expiring soon
  • Batch recall lookup — find every order by batch number
  • Show batch numbers on customer order & invoice emails

Source Code

Minified files ship alongside their unminified counterparts in the plugin package:

  • assets/js/admin-product.min.js — unminified source: assets/js/admin-product.js
  • assets/js/frontend.min.js — unminified source: assets/js/frontend.js

Build tools: none (plain JavaScript, minified with a standard JS minifier).
