Repository metrics are context, not quality scores. Active installations measure adoption and can strongly reflect a plugin’s age and historical popularity. Ratings, recent updates and “Tested up to” metadata also do not guarantee modern code, error-free operation, security, feature completeness or suitability for a particular site. Why active installs don’t tell the whole story →

WP PlugIndex currently records Disable Animated Subsizes version 1.0.1 as active, updated 6d ago and tested up to WordPress 7.2.

Overview

About this plugin

Prefer static thumbnails and other sub-sizes for animated images? Activate this plugin to opt out of animated sub-size generation. New sub-sizes use the first frame while the original image keeps its animation.

There are no settings. Deactivate the plugin to restore the default behavior. Existing media files are not modified.

This plugin uses the wp_generate_animated_image_subsizes filter introduced in WordPress core PR #12572 and Gutenberg PR #80385. It takes effect only in versions that include support for this filter and animated sub-size processing. On older versions it has no effect.

“Tested up to” is directory metadata supplied by the plugin author. WP PlugIndex does not turn an older declaration into a claim that the plugin is incompatible.
